Ok, big breath in and PUSH. Argh! The labour pains we’ve been experiencing as we give birth to our new little enterprise called Mystic Waters Ranch are beginning to subside. A tremendous amount of energy, attention and activity has gone into nurturing our seed idea and now, eight months in, we are starting to witness the fruits of our labours.
Today all of our animals plus 3 other horses received treatments from Dr Gail Jewell, of Hartland Veterinary Services. Gail practices Integrative Vet Medicine; combining traditional vet medical care with Chiropractics, Homeopathy and other energy medicines to provide holistic animal health care.
Something thing I noticed immediately was how different the animals responded to Gail’s visit in comparison to how I have seen dozens of other animals respond to traditional vet visits. The most obvious and pleasant difference was the level of enthusiasm displayed by all eight of the animals Gail treated. None showed any signs of fear or anxiety. In fact they seemed to be saying, “You understand me and I appreciate how you’re working with me to figure out what I really need right now. Thank you.”
One of the horses came to us because she is very difficult to ride. She has a spastic gait which makes it hard for even experienced riders to stay in
the saddle. She’s a beautiful horse with a lovely temperament, and an obvious problem. Within a few minutes of checking her spine, neck, legs and feet, Gail determined it was a neurological rather than a physical problem. Basically she sustained nerve damage at some point in time and it had caused a disconnection between her brain and her back legs. Gail suggested a course of treatment with homeopathies along with another simple and no-cost remedy of walking Belle around in areas where the ground has numerous small obstacles she’d need to maneuver. This action done consistently would cause Belle to create new neural pathways and in the process, learn how to walk smoothly. So cool, now she’s going to be able to take a rider again soon.
We highly recommend Gail and you can contact her through email: jewell1Atelus.net. Also check her website: www.holisticvet.ca Gail is based in Kelowna, however, she makes regular trips to the lower mainland and it’s worth the wait.
Construction continues on the barns and fences. We now have a fabulous tack room and a big, double barn door. Now we need a new barn wall (parts of it crumbled when we changed the door). It’s all coming along though and I am thrilled with our new baby.
