Girls just want to have fun!

Taylor and Kappuccino take a breakAfter what seemed like only a brief reprieve from putting all our spare energy and attention toward building fences and creating paddocks with shelters for our boys, we got back to work with a vengeance during the last weeks of June.

A chance encounter with an old friend gave us an opportunity to bring two more horses to Mystic Waters Ranch. We decided, since they were both well-trained mares, we'd be thrilled to have them here. This meant getting back to work building even more fences and creating another paddock with shelter for the girls.

I thought it was hilarious seeing the boys laying down right near where we were building the girl's paddock fence. It looked like they were tired from watching us do all the hard work.

The mares, Gypsy and Addison arrived with a stockpile of gear and accessories (they even brought their kitty Schmitty along). We realized we'd need a proper tack room, so once the fences were in, we turned our attention to another project. Fortunately, a few of our friends are quite skilled in carpentry and electrical work, making the job not only easier, but also more professional looking.

For nearly 3 weeks our boys, Kappuccino and Taylor have been living in the field, while the girls settle in. We've kept them mostly separate because even though the boys are geldings, the girls have been going into heat and causing quite a stir. The quality of our fence building has been put to the test more than a few times already. We hope to bring them closer together this week.Gypsy and Addison arrive at Mystic Waters

Last Tuesday evening after the Drum Journey and Reiki Drum Healing circle, everyone went out to the barn to see the new mares. I was delighted to witness Gypsy offer a spontaneous healing to a woman who had recently been through cancer treatment. Gypsy had a look of total concentration and compassion as she nuzzled, in a circular pattern, all around the area affected by the cancer. She circled a couple of times and then gave a little nip. I stepped closer, intending to ward off another bite, but it wasn't necessary because Gypsy simply moved away; her work was complete.

I could barely contain my excitement as I listened to the woman telling me how grateful she was to have been on the receiving end of such a beautiful and powerful energy healing. She wasn't the least put off by getting nipped; in fact she said she felt it was an attempt to stimulate lymph glands that had become dysfunctional during the cancer treatment. This is exactly the kind of healing we've been intending to provide at Mystic Waters and I am delighted at how Gypsy stepped right up to the plate, showing us her willingness and healing ability without any encouragement other than her own sense of what was needed.
